Do your parents/whoever you grew up with, share similar music tastes with you?

or is it completely different, growing up my mom listened to mainly duran duran, ll cool j, and Shaina twain and I can honestly say I don't like any of those 3. My dad listens to some good music that I enjoy, Tom Petty, Heart, Led Zeppelin, but then again he also likes Nickelback, ac/dc and most country music. Some of my favorite stuff is Animal Collective, Murder By Death, and Bear vs. Shark.. I was just wondering how everyone elses raising affects or doesn't affect there taste in music.
